During your session, your Student Loan counselor will work with you to develop a personalized plan and outline financial action steps for moving forward. Based on your financial situation, your counselor will explore your eligibility for the following:

Navigating the various ways to pay for college and understanding student loan repayment options can be overwhelming. There is much to consider, including evaluating repayment options and the benefits and drawbacks of consolidating student loans. We understand the challenges faced by students and their families and our certified Student Loan Counselors are specially trained to gain a better understanding of your unique financial situation, explain your options related to the types of student loans, repayment alternatives and forgiveness programs that may be available, and assist in determining solutions that are in your best interest.

What can I expect during my Student Loan Counseling session?

Your Counselor will take an in-depth look at your financial situation and work with you to develop a personalized budget and action plan. You will also be provided with guidance in the process of obtaining specific student loan repayment information.

What is the best repayment option for me?

There are balance-based and income driven repayment plans for student loans. Your Counselor will review your unique financial situation to determine the best repayment method for you and explain your options.  Your counselor will also provide additional budget recommendations to assist with other areas within your budget.

Can my student loans be forgiven?

The majority of the forgiveness programs are for federal student loans. There are multiple areas of criteria that need to be met in order to determine if forgiveness is an option; after discussing your situation, your Student Loan Counselor will be able to identify if your loans may qualify for a forgiveness program. Can I include my student loans into a Debt Management Program?

At this time, only private student loan payments are eligible for a Debt Management Program. Each repayment option discussed with your Student Loan Counselor would be with the student loan lenders and/or servicer. The information provided by your counselor can educate you on the repayment options that would fit your financial situation.

Is there a fee for Student Loan Counseling?
